5 Incredible Gardens That Will Blow Your Mind

Few places are more relaxing than a garden, whether it’s simple, extensive, elegant, or filled with so many flowers you can’t count them all. There’s something incredibly relaxing about strolling through nature and enjoying the delights that man has created.

Not all gardens are created equally however and while some may captivate you for but a moment there are some whose memory will linger in your mind forever.

That said, here are five absolutely incredible gardens from around the world that will blow your mind.

1. Keukenhof Gardens, The Netherlands
Few gardens are more mind-blowing or colourful than the Keukenhof Gardens in Holland.

They boast and unprecedented display of spectacular floral displays, each of which are planted with exact precision. Each year over seven million tulips are planted in the gardens, some of which are special hybrids which are unique to the Keukenhof Gardens.

Sadly, the gardens are only open from mid-March until mid-May each year when the gardens are in full bloom.

2. Gardens of Versailles, France
Built for Louis XIV and designed by Andre Le Notre, the Gardens of Versailles are among the most famous in the world.

They cover nearly 2,000 acres of land and are filled with pristine flower beds, meticulously manicured lawns, gorgeous fountains and breathtaking sculptures which are visited by six million people each year.

Today, while the gardens still look perfect, the Gardens of Versailles are a struggle to maintain due to their sheer size and a struggling water supply to feed them. While visiting the gardens, be sure to see the Château of Versailles which the gardens were built surrounding.

3. The Garden of Cosmic Speculation, Scotland
The Garden of Cosmic Speculation is one of a kind. It’s creators, Charles Jencks and his wife Maggie Keswick, took their inspiration from a mix of science and maths opposed to flowers and pretty colours and created something as stunning as it is unique.

Instead of focussing on horticultural displays, the gardens focus on sculptures, shapes, and thought provoking designs. The gardens have been running since 1989 however if you want to visit you’ll have to plan your trip well ahead of time seeing as the gardens are only open for one day each year.

4. Butchart Gardens, Canada
Spread over 50 acres, the Butchart Gardens are simply a wonder to behold. They’re thriving with a variety of bright and bold colours, filled with unique and incomparable water fountains, populated with statues, sculptures, and even a host of tropical birds.

Everything is planted with precision making the rows of flowers crisp and clear. As you walk beneath the trees or alongside one of the beautiful ponds of the Butchart Gardens it’s as though you’ve entered another world as nature envelopes you. The gardens are open throughout the seasons meaning visitors can return time and again, getting a true sense of how the gardens change throughout the year.

5. Yuyuan Garden, China
The Yuyuan Garden is believed to be over four centuries old and is brimming with Chinese culture and history. It features traditional rock and stone areas, dragon sculptures, and sacred water features, making these extensive gardens a stunning sight. At only five acres of land, it’s somewhat smaller than the other gardens on this list however it’s no less beautiful.

Within the Yuyuan Garden visitors can admire the stunning Grand Rockery (a twelve meter high rockery made of huangshi stone and featuring waterfalls, peaks, caves and gorges), breathtaking ponds filled with goldfish, traditional Chinese pavilions and much more as they spend the day relaxing amidst a calm atmosphere.
