A town in southern Italy is located on a canyon, which defines Matera’s landscape and architecture. Inhabited since the Paleolithic era, established by the Romans in the 3rd century BC, the town is famous for its cave dwellings.

When to go there?: Summers are hot and winters are mild in Matera.
How to get there?: 1,5 hr with a train, that frequently goes from Bari.
