Magical Mountain Hotel - an Artificial Geyser in Nature Reserve, Chile

In Southern Chile there is not that many true four star hotels and above. The Magic Mountain Hotel and Hotel Baobab are in the heart of the Huilo Huilo nature reserve. The architecture, combined with the forest setting, makes this truly a magical mountain and forest. Full four star international service, in such a spectacular location, sets the Magic Mountain Hotel and Hotel Baobab apart from all the other hotels in Southern Chile. The realy amazing thing is that the Magic Mountain hotel you see in the photo is possibly the least spectacular thing going on around the Huilo Huilo nature reserve in Southern Chile.

What To See

The antique appearance ends with the exterior however, as the interiors are done up in luxury. There are only 9 rooms, named after bird species found in the area. Each of them overlooks the thick forest and wildlife outside, including toucans, iguanas, pumas and lizards. Guests even get a glimpse of a real-life volcano from the hotel – the enormous Arenal Volcano. Outside the rooms the special services provided to guests are definitely worth a mention. Hot tubs made out of huge tree trunks, overlooking the forest are a major tourist attraction at Magic Mountain, as is the world’s longest zip line running through the grounds.

The Magic Mountain Hotel itself is built from local wood and stone and each of the nine rooms are equipped with modern amenities, large windows to look out at the forest, and each room is named after a different local species of bird. Among the offerings of the hotel are hot tubs "made out of huge trunks of trees, dug out, and then filled with hot water perched on a deck overlooking the forest." A mini golf course is built into the forest itself, using the natural world as the obstacles, and there are various outdoor activities such as horseback riding, rafting, and hiking.

Exuding a lovely design and making use of a high level of creativity, the hotel itself is built in the shape of a volcano, with windows surrounded by moss and vines, which make the unusual building perfectly blend in its green surroundings. Montaña Mágica Hotel does not take its volcano resemblance for granted: the construction bursts with energy and “erupts” everyday, as water is sent down the surface of the guest house, in ripples of delight.

As one can expect from the shape and overall design of this hotel, the rooms are not too big, yet the beds are said to be particularly cozy and comfortable and the furniture- very fun and playful looking. Some of the features and amenities of the accommodation unit include a playroom for children, a restaurant, a bar, a sauna and tubs in ancient trunks with naturally heated water.
