A spectacular hotel photograph can make you want to pack immediately. Before choosing a stay, pause over one practical question: is the experience in that picture part of the room you are about to book?

These four resorts offer very different answers. Their appeal becomes easier to compare when you separate the accommodation, shared facilities and special experiences.

The Manta Resort: an underwater room off Pemba

The Manta Resort’s Underwater Room is associated with Pemba, part of Tanzania’s Zanzibar archipelago. It is a distinctive offshore accommodation experience, not a feature shared by every room at the resort.

The photograph combines an unusual viewpoint with a very specific product. It should not be read as a promise that any room at a Zanzibar hotel includes a submerged bedroom.

Astarte Suites: choose the suite as carefully as the view

Astarte Suites is in Akrotiri on Santorini. Its official presentation includes different suite choices and a shared infinity pool overlooking the caldera setting.

Look closely at the room category’s own description. A property gallery can mix private amenities, shared spaces and specially arranged experiences in one attractive sequence.

Hanging Gardens of Bali: a pool within a valley setting

Hanging Gardens of Bali is known for its tiered pool and its wooded valley setting near Ubud. Its accommodation includes several pool-villa categories.

Ask whether the pool shown in the picture that caught your eye is the main resort pool or the private pool attached to your villa. They are different spaces and offer different experiences.

Conrad Maldives: restaurant and residence are different

Ithaa is Conrad Maldives’ underwater restaurant. The resort’s underwater accommodation is The Muraka, a separate residence with an underwater bedroom.

As checked on 13 September 2026, Conrad’s site carried an enhancement notice covering the Muraka and other facilities from 1 July to 14 September 2026. Confirm the arrangements for your dates directly; a scheduled end date is not a substitute for confirmation of what is available.

The official site also distinguishes villa prices from mandatory transfers. Include those transport costs when comparing the complete stay.

Build a useful comparison before paying

Write down the exact room name, which pictured facilities are private, the transfer plan and the cancellation terms. Add meals and any experience that requires a separate reservation.

Then ask which part matters most to you: sleeping below the sea, a particular view or several quiet days in one place. The best choice is the stay that delivers that experience within a plan you can comfortably enjoy.
