Three months of travel, luxury homes and a salary for sharing the experience: THIRDHOME’s 2017 campaign had a headline designed to stop the scroll. It also had a real work component. The successful applicant was expected to create content, not simply enjoy an extended holiday.
The campaign is part of the company’s history. The old application deadline and email address are not a current vacancy, and the advertised pay should not be treated as a typical income for travel work.

What made the campaign stand out
The original offer combined a fixed period of travel with writing, photography and social-media output. Later company coverage identified Sorelle Amore as the selected traveller. THIRDHOME’s own stories provide context for its travel and home-exchange business; any present employment opportunity should be checked through a current official listing.
That gives the story a useful second life. It shows how a company can turn a travel assignment into publicity, and why applicants need to understand both the appealing itinerary and the deliverables behind it.
Read the work before imagining the view
What must you produce, how often and for which channels? Who approves the work? Are revisions expected during travel days? A role involving daily filming, editing and reporting can leave much less free time than the photographs suggest.
Ask who owns the resulting photographs and video, how they may be reused and whether your name or image will appear in future campaigns. These questions are part of understanding the job, not an awkward interruption to the dream.
Work out the real arrangement
Clarify the duration, pay schedule, covered expenses, insurance arrangements and what happens if travel is cancelled. A quoted salary means little without knowing which costs you must meet yourself. Tax and work-permission questions depend on the actual circumstances and need appropriate advice.
Verify the organisation and application route through its official channels. Be cautious about a supposed employer asking for money to secure the position or requesting sensitive documents before the role and recipient are established.
Build something useful before applying
Create a small portfolio close to home: a clear destination article, a short edited video and a few photographs with accurate captions. Show that you can explain a place and meet a brief, rather than only pose in it.
Our guide to reading city panoramas offers an exercise in visual storytelling, while travel-related skills considers the abilities you can practise and describe with concrete examples.
A paid travel role can be exciting. It becomes a better opportunity when you can see the work clearly enough to decide whether you actually want to do it.
