Where did the incident happen?

Contemporary reporting places the flight at Kourou in French Guiana, on the northeastern coast of South America. The aircraft was an ultralight, rather than the ordinary unpowered glider suggested by some retellings.

TIME’s report identifies Jantot and the flight club, and records his statement that the cat was doing well afterwards. The story belongs to that 2015 moment; it does not establish the animal’s present whereabouts or the club’s current operations.

The uncertainty is part of the account

Jantot said he did not know whether the cat had entered after the pre-flight check or had been missed. That is more precise than confidently claiming a particular sequence that the video does not show.

A calm-looking animal is not a risk assessment
